The cast includes ‘No Dorai’ actor Sunerah Binte Kamal and Nuhash Humayun’s niece Nairah Onora Saif in her debut role
Director Nuhash Humayu’s horror-short film 'Moshari' will have its world premiere at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival, slated to be held from March 11 to March 20.
'Moshari' follows two sisters, played by ‘No Dorai’ actor Sunerah Binte Kamal and Nuhash Humayun’s niece Nairah Onora Saif, trying to survive the end of the world.
'Moshari' is a traditional South Asian mosquito net, made for protection against vermin at night. When the world is overrun with bloodthirsty creatures, the last of mankind persevere in Dhaka, Bangladesh by spending their nights inside the moshari - the only known shelter from the unknown threat. Two sisters, Apu and Ayra, must navigate this strange new world to survive. However, their strained relationship is becoming as much of a threat as the dangers outside. One night, when Ayra’s curiosity lures her outside the safety of the moshari, Apu must rise to the occasion - as they face their demons, together,” reads the official synopsis.
Written and directed by Nuhash, the film is twenty one minutes long and will be screened at the Midnight Shorts Program section in the festival.
In a Facebook post, the director thanked Bushra Afreen, Ejaz Mehedi, Dameer Khan, Abrar Jahin Rafee, Rashad W Lateef, Sohan Rahman, Jahangir Alam, Abdul Mamun, Ashiq Alam, Ripon Rahman and the production company Little Big Films. “So so proud of everyone who's worked on this; it’s been years in the making!” wrote Nuhash.
“Moshari” will be screened on Mar 13, 2022 at 9:30pm and Mar 17, 2022 at 3:00pm in Austin, Texas.
